A software platform for modeling imaging systems

To capture the image focused by the lens, digital photography uses an array of electronic photo-detectors, as opposed to an exposure on photographic film. The captured image is then digitized and could be stored as computer file for digital processing, viewing, digital publishing or printing. Usually made in CMOS technology, electronic photo-detectors are commonly used in cell phone cameras, web cameras and some other devices. Throughout this work, the author presents the linear simulation flow for CMOS Image Sensor Modelling he developed at IMEC research center. Int this purpose, he used MATLAB has computing tool and programming language. After describing the electromagnetic simulation of light propagation inside the pixel structure, the framework for the simulation of photo-generated electrons collection by photo-diodes, and subsequent Digital Signal Processing, a comparison is made between simulation results and ideal image sensors optical measurements. The accuracy and predictability of this methodology are demonstrated on various parameters which affect resulted pixels.

PROVISIONING RESTORABLE VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORKS

Packet switching is a rapid store-and-forward networking design that divides messages into arbitrary packets. Using this, a Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a secured way of connecting a Local Area Network (LAN) to another at a remote location. The VPN uses authentication to deny access to unauthorized users, and encryption to prevent unauthorized users from reading the private network packets. Normal Restoration algorithm (ARA) provides protection on disjoined nodes or paths from the point of failure to the destination. Provisioning & Restoration Algorithm (PRA) combines & optimises the capacity allocation on an end-to-end basis, to satisfy the QoS constraints. Better quality of service is achieved by PRA algorithms. The primary bandwidth is the one on the path under the non-failure case. The additional bandwidth are needed on the alternative paths under the node or link failure case. It is called protected bandwidth. A 20 steps algorithm in this research proposes a combination of the provisioning and restoration to achieve better results than the ones obtained by independent methods. What is next? It is “Electronic Telepathy”. A practical model is designed and proposed !!!

Timed Automata as a Verification Tool for Security Protocols

Timed automata is an extension to the automata-theoretic approach to the modeling of real time systems that introduces time into the classical automata. Since it has been first proposed in the early nineties, it has become an important research area and been widely studied in both the context of formal languages and modeling and verification of real time systems. Timed automata use dense time modeling, allowing efficient model checking of time-sensitive systems whose correct functioning depend on the timing properties. One of these application areas is the verification of security protocols. This book focuses on the timed automata model and utilizes it as a verification tool for security protocols. As a case study, the Neuman-Stubblebine Repeated Authentication Protocol is modeled and verified employing the time-sensitive properties in the model. The flaws of the protocol are analyzed and it is commented on the benefits and challenges of the model.

Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) are dynamic networks populated by mobile stations or mobile nodes (MNs). Specifically, MANETs consist of a collection of nodes randomly placed in a line (not necessarily straight). MANETs do appear in many real-world network applications such as a vehicular MANETs built along a highway in a city environment or people in a particular location. MNs in MANETs are usually laptops, PDAs or mobile phones. These devices may use Bluetooth and/or IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi) network interfaces and communicate in a decentralized manner. Mobility is a key feature of MANETs. Each node may work as a router and the network can dynamically change with time; when new nodes can join, and other nodes can leave the network. In this thesis, comparative results of the Queueing Mobility Model and mobility models such as random walk/Brownian model have been carried out via Matlab software simulation. The study investigates the impact of mobility prediction models on mobile nodes’ parameters such as the speed, the arrival rate and the size of mobile nodes in a given area. The results have indicated that mobile nodes’ arrival rates may have influence on MNs population.

This project is designed to use a computer application program as a hearing aid in order to help students who have hearing impairments (HI students) by making an application for learning them. This idea has came to the existence through working as a teacher and it has been concluded within the work on a research project that shall serve both teacher and student, and it shall go ahead to complete the idea of this vital project. The project’s idea depends on transferring traditional Arabic fonts to sign language fonts that can be read by students with hearing Impairments. The main objective of this significant project is to facilitate the processes of teaching and learning for HI students and completely communicate with them by using sign language fonts, reading lips through recorded videos, facial expressions through recorded videos and saved pictures, and audio assistant (computer speakers).
